What Is CoPI
Community of Philosophical Inquiry (CoPI) started from Philosophy for Children program which was the brainchild of Matthew Lipman who invented his time to create a program to promote excellent thinking among adolescent and children in America for he was dismayed with their quality of thinking (Lipman, 2003.) Since 1974, this program has developed into a world renown program and has been adopted and adapted by many researchers and practitioners through out the world. Thousands of research have been conducted to discover how this program could help children and adolescent to think well.
WHO ARE WE
Consequently due to knowledge is not translated to action (M. Baharom & H. K. Za’aba, 2013), Wisdom Seekers Flagship was founded to produce students who are able to use philosophical inquiry skills in fundamental aspects of life to achieve deep understanding which will impact their spirituality and behaviour, and to produce students who have high motivation and wisdom in dealing with life challenges
HOW DO WE DO IT
Wisdom Seekers Flagship Youth Programmes
Wisdom Seekers Flagship Youth Programmes
In Malaysia, Professor Rosnani Hashim and her team from the International Islamic University have been conducting research to provide evidences of the effectiveness of this program in promoting good thinking (multidimensional which consist of critical, creative, ethical spiritual and collaborative thinking), communication skills and self-concept (Rosnani Hashim, 2012; Juhasni Adila, 2010; Preece, 2012; Wan Mazwati & Lina Mursyidah, 2016; Wan Mazwati Wan Yusoff, 2018).
Since there is a positive correlation between thinking skills, self-esteem, self-confidence, self-concept and academic and good behavioural performance, therefore this program is selected to be implemented. Furthermore, Dr. Wan Mazwati, Dr. Abdul Shakour Preece and Puan Juhasni Adila are the certified professional trainer for this program awarded by the Institute for Advancement of Philosophy for Children, Montclair State University, Newark, New Jersey. To implement Wisdom Seekers among IIUM and secondary school students around Gombak, module that is relevant to Muslim communities has to be developed. Therefore, a series of workshops have been and will be conducted to produce Wisdom Seekers Module. The module consists of stimulus materials, discussion plans, exercises (cognitive skills), games and activities. |

EXPLORING TEACHERS’ REACTIONS TO WRITING ‘THINKING STORIES’ FOR ENHANCING CRITICAL AND CREATIVE THINKING
The main objective of the WTS workshop was to introduce the skill of writing thinking stories to a group of university lecturers as a stimulus for COPI, towards the development of students’ critical and creative thinking skills. The objective of this research, on the other hand, was to gauge participants’ responses to the writing thinking stories process to explore their reactions and responses about the benefits and value of the program for their own critical and creative thinking.
